Shiv Murat Dwivedi(39), alias, Ichchadhari Sant Swami Bhimanand Ji Maharaj Chitrakoot Wale, who had built a ‘temple’ in south Delhi’s Khanpur, was arrested with a man and six women, including two air hostesses, last week on charges of prostitution.
As the investigation is in progress and the police are trying to gather more evidence, murkier truths about him and his crime syndicate are coming to light.
”The ‘baba’ apparently has clients and contacts not only in India but also in Las Vegas. It has been known that he was taking classes to learn English also,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (south) H G S Dhaliwal said.
He told mediapersons that police came to know about this from six diaries, seized at the time of his arrest.
”The diaries reveal the names of 100 high-profile policemen, politicians and bureaucrats, besides prostitutes,” he said.

LAS VEGAS — Las Vegas police have arrested 33-year-old Solomon Barron on several prostitution-related charges, including pandering and living off the earnings of a prostitute.
According to the arrest report, Barron transported several women from the east coast to work for him as prostitutes in Las Vegas. One of the girls contacted police after she decided she no longer wanted to work as a prostitute.
Barron rented multiple apartments near Flamingo and Valley View where several prostitutes lived and worked, according to police. Detectives raided those apartments in January of 2010 and found evidence that Barron was running a prostitution-related operation.

In the most recent arrest report, one of Barron’s prostitutes said he told her about Harris. The woman said she believed Barron was threatening her by providing details of Harris’ disappearance and murder.

The Democratic Party of Illinois has received more than 70 applications since it began accepting them on its Web site this week. Applicants included a former senior adviser to disgraced ex-Gov. Rod Blagojevich and an out-of-work technician who answered the question “Why are you a Democrat?” with “Who said I was?”
Democrats are looking for a replacement for Chicago pawnbroker Scott Lee Cohen, who left the race less than a week after winning the primary election amid accusations he abused his ex-wife and held a knife to the throat of an ex-girlfriend who was later arrested for prostitution. Cohen has denied the allegations, and charges stemming from his arrest were dropped when the ex-girlfriend didn’t show up in court.

Airport Fire Captain Martin Vohwinkel took in $63,000 in overtime, which explains how he could afford to live in the gated community. Vohwinkel was arrested this week for soliciting sex with a minor.

According to a State Bar of Nevada spokesman, panels of the Southern Nevada Disciplinary Board will review the cases and determine whether any action should be taken.
The Supreme Court’s Feb. 26 orders apply to Chief Deputy Public Defender Gary Guymon, who resolved his Utah theft case in December by pleading no contest to trespassing; Edward Miley, who pleaded no contest in December to domestic battery and cruelty to animals; and Steven Shinn, who pleaded no contest in June to driving under the influence.
Guymon, 47, has been licensed to practice law in Nevada since 1989. He previously prosecuted cases for the Clark County district attorney’s office but left that job after his name surfaced in connection with the public corruption scandal involving several county commissioners and strip club owner Michael Galardi.

The American Dream is somewhere in Vegas. It’s in slot machines and strip clubs and behind the dumpster around the corner from the Flamingo. Starving souls striving for a heaping slice of the Great American Pie; souls with lustful eyes and greedy hands, reeking of desperation, make the pilgrimage to the Mecca of the American Dream. Pure Horatio Alger. But Dreams die in the desert. Slowly and painfully they shrivel up as the intense heat sucks out every last drop of hope. Here, the American Dream is a mirage.

Corliss is so sold that he even raved that the aforementioned trampoline segment is “an ecstatic amusement-park bit with high-bouncing superheroes.” Donnelly, who quite strangely suggested there were two places in the show that brought her to tears (?!?), declared: “This isn’t just a show, it’s a glorious celebration of the life of the king of rock ’n’ roll. … Cirque has once again synthesized multiple art forms into a wondrously distinct creation.”
All people are entitled to their opinions, to be sure. But the dramatic disconnect between what Corliss, Donnelly and Pedersen saw and thought and what the credible critics in Vegas saw and thought is hard to reconcile.
The only conclusion I can reach is that they just don’t know. They just don’t know that a great Vegas show can be over-the-top, eye-popping and still make sense. That throwing in a potpourri of Vegas-related clichés—flying stripper poles!—is not how we necessarily roll anymore. That Garth Brooks playing the guitar and singing by himself on stage may just be the next generation of Vegas entertainment, not Cirque and certainly not Elvis cheese.
