Las Vegas Adult Entertainment: The John Ensign Affair and the Stench of GOP Hypocrisy

Sen. Ensign was ruthless in his condemnation of former President Bill Clinton during the Lewinsky scandal, calling on Clinton to resign, saying Clinton “has no credibility left.” Ensign demanded the resignation of Larry Craig, calling him a “disgrace” when Craig was arrested in a men’s bathroom, allegedly for soliciting sex from a male undercover policeman.
Ensign went further with his rhetoric against Craig, “There’s too many people that paint with a broad brush that we’re all corrupt, we’re all amoral. … And having these kinds of things happen, whether it’s a Republican or Democratic senator — we certainly have had plenty of Democratic scandals in the past — we need people who are in office who will hold themselves to a little higher standard,” said Ensign in 2007.
When Republican Sen. David Vitter admitted to an affair and was linked to a high-priced call girl service, Ensign stayed silent.
