LAS VEGAS (AP) Authorities say convicted former Clark County Commission chairman and congressional candidate Dario Herrera is due to be released from federal prison to a halfway house in Las Vegas.
Herrera was convicted and sentenced in 2006 with three former commission colleagues for taking bribes from a former strip club owner who also was convicted and served prison time in the corruption scandal dubbed Operation G-sting.
Herrera is now 35. The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported Thursday he was due to arrive at a 124-bed halfway house to find a job and re-establish community ties under case manager supervision.
Herrera was sentenced to 50 months at a prison camp in Florence, Colo.
