The ECHL Las Vegas Wranglers have long been one of our favorite minor league hockey franchises, from having strippers at the game to wearing ridiculous Santa themed jerseys to promoting “Rapture Night” and the final hockey game played on Earth. (Spoiler: It wasn’t.)
On Monday night, the Wranglers were at it again. Returning to the ECHL Kelly Cup championship for the first time in four seasons, the Wranglers rustled up a sports legend to sound their siren at the start of Game 1: Iron. Mike. Tyson.

There was that moment after he cranked the siren in which Tyson looked around for what to do next, and it appeared he might knock it out with a right hook. Alas, he just smiled and clapped. This isn’t Tyson’s first mingling with hockey, having previously met Alex Ovechkin. For those keeping score, Mike Tyson has now been on the ice longer in a Cup Final than Ovechkin.

I once mislaid a Renault in Paris and on another occasion, lost Daughter’s Explorer in the heart of Vancouver.
There is always a crush of people walking the Strip — young women pushing strollers and old men with walkers make their way past hawkers with LED T-shirts, street mimes, show promoters, casino promoters, a string of people handing out picture cards with phone numbers for escort services and exotic dancers, panhandlers, and official-looking people in dress pants and white shirts collecting for the (estimated 14,000) homeless in Las Vegas.

Mike Tyson might not be the boxing heavyweight champion of the world anymore, but he’s the champ of the comeback: he’s just finished his first one-man show in Las Vegas and he just launched an iPhone app. As he nurses his hopes to get his show onto Broadway, he’s also busy flying to Poland pimping energy drinks and telling overseas audiences during appearances about his lifelong goal: becoming a missionary.
Before her ill-fated talk show folded on Oprah’s network, Rosie O’Donnell had the boxer on as a guest, and later he helped her celebrate her 50th birthday and sang her “Happy Birthday.”  After, she Tweeted: “u r quite lovely with such an open heart – ur family is beautiful – so r u – xxx see u in Vegas !!!”

In the latest installment, Smith has 24 hours to go back in time and save his partner and the world. Multiple spaceships hover menacingly in the sky.
In 1969, Josh Brolin portrays the younger Agent K. His co-workers include artist Andy Warhol, who tracks down aliens when he isn’t hosting glamorous parties with hippies and models.
Smith continues his snappy lines, warning Warhol that he isn’t above “pimp slapping” him.

In legal brothels, employees report that they feel safe, are free to come and go, and are bound only by their contract. Of the brothel workers we surveyed, 84 per cent said that their job felt safe. Workers report that they felt safe largely because the police, employers and co-workers were there to protect them.
It is time we pay attention to the evidence and rethink our approach to this age-old profession.
Our research found that women came to the legal brothels from a wide variety of situations. Some were supplementing low paying service jobs. Some were escaping the hustle and danger illegal sex work. Some were looking for ways to supplement their erotic dancing or film careers.
Some had pimps. Most did not. One woman told us the brothel allowed her to sever ties with an abusive pimp. Most important, in all our research, we found no evidence of trafficking in the legal brothels.

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and General Services Administration acting administrator Dan Tangherlini on Tuesday defended their respective agencies in the face of recent controversies, with Napolitano praising the Secret Service’s response to the Colombian prostitution scandal and Tangherlini insisting GSA employees are as angry about the Las Vegas spending scandal as Congress and the public are.
At an event marking “Public Service Recognition Week,” Tangherlini called the $800,000 GSA conference in Las Vegas ironic because the agency is responsible for finding cost-savings across government.

Federico Fellini’s potent and heartbreaking drama NIGHT OF CABIRIA is the latest film to get the remake treatment, says The Hollywood Reporter, with Juliette Lewis starring. This comes, personally, as a mild surprise that Fellini’s art house weepie would get a contemporary update. Nevertheless, the film, which will be titled THE DAYS OF MARY, will be a reimagining of the Fellini film that was written by Fellini himself, Ennio Flaiano, and Rullio Pinelli, and told the story of prostitute searching for love and continually being disappointed and heartbroken. The film took home the Oscar for Best Foreign Language film in 1958, and was the inspiration for the Bob Fosse directed, Shirley MacLaine starring musical SWEET CHARITY

Yet another shoe dropped amid reports of alleged delinquency by federal agents on assignment in Colombia. This time the scandal affected a federal agency that until now has enjoyed longstanding repute with the American public for its code of professional conduct. The Secret Service has earned a prestigious reputation for its protective services to American presidents beginning after President McKinley’s assassination in 1901.
Now the esteemed law enforcement agency, whose no-nonsense, clean-cut agents are renowned for wearing tinted sunglasses and corralling rope-lines at presidential events, is suffering a black eye from alleged carousing by a dozen agents soliciting prostitutes while on assignment in Colombia. By any measure, Secret Service agents who would hire foreign female escorts for nighttime entertainment while on assignment exhibit the judgment skills of a class of nitwits. The security risks associated with U.S. agents’ allowing strangers into their hotel room in a foreign country are obvious. Let’s hope the President is correct when he claimed it was a few knuckleheads exercising poor judgment.
